Anticipating Future Transportation Needs in the Region

A Thoroughfare Plan is a long-range (50+ years) map that identifies the general location and type of transportation corridor needed to meet projected long-term growth in a region. It is not a list of construction projects but a tool that allows a City or County to preserve right-of-way for the development of a transportation system as the need arises.

H-GAC's Regional Thoroughfare Plan is comprised of existing thoroughfare plans located within the eight-county transportation management area. These thoroughfare plans complement each other so the roadway network performs as a well-coordinated, efficient, and effective roadway system.
