HOUSTON, TX – It’s National Emergency Telecommunicators Week, a time to spotlight the dedicated individuals working tirelessly behind the scenes to ensure help is always just a call away during crises.

Among them is Telecommunications Officer (TCO) Baylee Bruce, whose recent actions in a life-saving response to an auto-pedestrian accident highlight the vital role telecommunicators play.

On Christmas night in 2023, Pearland, Texas, was rocked by a call reporting a major vehicle accident. In the dispatch center, TCO Bruce calmly fielded a distress call, her voice serving as a lifeline for the victim. Meanwhile, officers at the scene sprang into action at the accident scene, applying life-saving techniques that stabilized the victim's condition.

Their efforts, alongside colleagues in law enforcement, fire, and EMS, underscore the importance of effective communication and collaboration in emergency response.

As we honor National Emergency Telecommunicators Week, let's recognize the dedication of telecommunicators like Officer Bruce, whose calm under pressure and quick thinking make a difference in lives.
