SH 35 Direct Connectors
Harris County
SH 35
AT IH 610
The project is needed because SH 35 from IH 45 to Bellfort is inadequate to meet current and future traffic volumes, resulting in congestion, reduced mobility, undesirable operational Level of Mobility, and is inadequate to provide emergency access and a safe hurricane evacuation route. Six existing travel lanes have been previously constructed from Spur 5 to US 90 (A)/Old Spanish Trail.
Construct 2 direct connectors between IH 610 and SH 35
Accommodate regional population growth within the region projected between the years 2010 and 2035. Reduce traffic congestion within the project area. Increase north/south mobility within the region by controlling access, reducing signalization, and reducing at-grade railroad crossings within the SH 35 study area. Improve community and economic viability within the study area by linking the communities with a viable transportation system with improved mobility and reduced traffic congestion. Improve safety within the study area. Increase hurricane evacuation capacity through the study area.
