Corporation for Regional Excellence

Corporation for Regional Excellence (CRE) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that serves as the charitable arm of the Houston-Galveston Area Council (H-GAC). Since 2003, it has provided financial support to strengthen H-GAC’s programs and services, as well as those of local governments across the region.

Building Stronger Communities Together

Corporation for Regional Excellence accepts contributions from public and private organizations to support future regional projects. Additionally, the CRE provides a streamlined process for local governments to allocate funds towards initiatives that strengthen communities.

Any H-GAC member government in the 13-county region, including Austin, Brazoria, Chambers, Colorado, Fort Bend, Galveston, Harris, Liberty, Matagorda, Montgomery, Walker, Waller, and Wharton counties, is eligible to participate.

For local governments that do not have a 501(c)(3) under their jurisdiction, the CRE, through an Interlocal Agreement (ILA), can serve as the charitable entity for those local governments. CRE can accept, track, and disburse funds for Future-Use and Local Projects.

Future-Use

Funding directed to this program will be securely stored and available for future projects in your community. We offer participants the flexibility to collect and consolidate donations throughout the year or accept one-time contributions from external parties. These funds can be saved for future needs or used immediately to support community projects.

For future-use contributions, a specific local project does not need to be pre-determined when funds are received.
