Clean Rivers Program

The H-GAC Clean Rivers Program is in charge of conducting water quality monitoring and assessment to determine the health of water bodies throughout the region. H-GAC does this through a coordinated effort with local partners and the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ). Along with analysis of this monitoring data, H-GAC assesses factors and activities impacting water quality.

The H-GAC Clean Rivers Program covers all or a portion of 15 counties (Austin, Brazoria, Chambers, Colorado, Fort Bend, Galveston, Grimes, Harris, Liberty, Matagorda, Montgomery, San Jacinto, Walker, Waller, Wharton), four river basins (Brazos-Colorado Coastal Basin, San Jacinto River Basin, the San Jacinto-Brazos Coastal Basin, Trinity-San Jacinto Coastal Basin), and the Bays and Estuaries.
