HOUSTON, TX – The Houston-Galveston Area Council is proud to announce Chuck Wemple, executive director of the Houston-Galveston Area Council (H-GAC), as the new chair of the Executive Directors Council for the National Association of Regional Councils (NARC). His appointment was announced at the 58th NARC Annual Conference & Exhibition in Atlanta, Georgia, where representatives from councils of government and metropolitan planning organizations across the country gathered.
"Being appointed as chairman of the Executive Directors Council for NARC is a tremendous privilege," said Wemple. "This role allows me to collaborate closely with regional councils across the nation in making meaningful impacts in our communities."
During the event, H-GAC was honored to receive the 2024 NARC Major Metro Award for its county pop-up initiative. This recognition highlights the organization's commitment to community engagement and innovative regional planning solutions.
In addition to receiving the award, H-GAC representatives actively contributed to the conference. Rick Guerrero, chief Outreach & Government Affairs Officer, shared insights on strategic messaging for regional councils. Meanwhile, Executive Director Chuck Wemple led a discussion on "Tech-Forward Governance: Navigating the digital landscape in public service," addressing the importance of technology in modern governance.
