HOUSTON, TX – The Houston-Galveston Area Council is seeking public input to enhance the Language Access Plan for its transportation program which serves as the local metropolitan planning organization (MPO).

Through a survey, the MPO aims to learn best practices for providing information to diverse language communities to ensure they can more easily participate in transportation planning activities. The public is asked to complete this survey no later than the end of the day on Monday, June 17.

This survey is the first step in updating H-GAC's Language Access Plan, and it can be completed online at https://bit.ly/LAPUPDATE. The survey is available in English, Spanish, Chinese, Vietnamese, and Korean. Survey results will be considered as the Language Access Plan is revised.

As our region continues to become more diverse, it is important for residents to understand how to utilize transportation services and participate in the planning process for transportation. This survey will help H-GAC and the MPO ensure that people get the information they need in the language they prefer. Following the survey, public comment on the revised Language Access Plan will take place from July 2 to August 1, 2024. A public meeting will be held on July 30 to review the updated plan and receive public comments in person.
