This project aims to improve pavement condition and increase capacity with intent to enhance quality of life, improve level of service, and decrease travel times. The project also proposes a traffic signal on Gene Campbell Boulevard at FM 1485 with a goal to increase safe movement and improve mobility at the intersection. Planning activities will produce recommendations for appropriate improvements, signage, safety enhancements, traffic signals, and infrastructure.

Other Investment Category Focused Criteria
Proposed project includes evaluation to signalize the intersection of Gene Campbell Boulevard and FM 1485, evaluation for school zones, alignment, need for right turn and/or deceleration lane, and recommendation for typical section (i.e., inclusion of a continuous left turn lane, etc.).
As the New Caney area experiences rapid growth, Gene Campbell Boulevard is encountering added strain on existing infrastructure with the development of over 550 acres of residential properties, over 15 acres of commercial, and three acres of industrial growth expected (source: H-GAC ACE tool), and a new Middle School. This study and planning activities will recommend improvements to alleviate congestion and improve access and mobility to the above-mentioned areas.
This proposed project will determine recommendations for proposed pedestrian and/or bicycle infrastructure.
This proposed project will determine recommendations for proposed connectivity to transit services, if any.
This proposed project will determine recommendations for reduction of inoperability due to damaged infrastructure.
Recommendations from the planning activities will produce recommendations that will likely include reconstruction and widening of the existing roadway, including drainage accommodations and all appurtenances necessary that will bring the current pavement and drainage conditions to an acceptable level.
Planning Factors Criteria
2.984 per 100 million VMT
17.907 per 100 million VMT
As the area continues to grow and develop, additional cars and truck traffic are expected. The proposed project is planned to provide recommendations to improve safety of the corridor and two major intersections. Anticipated recommendations include installation of a new traffic signal system, possible modification of an existing traffic signal system, school zone evaluation, evaluation of need for right turn and/or deceleration lane, and recommendation for typical section (i.e., inclusion of a continuous left turn lane, etc.).

This project aims to include safety and travel improvements that are expected to enhance quality of life, improve level of service, and decrease travel times. The project also proposes a traffic signal on Gene Campbell Boulevard at FM 1485 with a goal to increase safety and improve mobility at the intersection. Planning activities will produce recommendations for appropriate drainage improvements, signage, safety enhancements, traffic signals, and infrastructure.
Without pursuit of the proposed project, increased traffic congestion and disruption/impact to the movement of goods as well as impacts to school and work trips would be expected as growth continues in the area.
Impacts on Natural and Cultural Resources
The extent of this project is for planning purposes at this time. Recommendations will include any information on impacts to natural and cultural resources. From the H-GAC Eco-Logical mapping tool, it appears that the widening would avoid impacts to wetlands, and the bridge structure would span the floodplain area.
Will be calculated with H-GAC's assistance.
Innovation
Yes
Planning activities include expectation of a warranted signal system at the Gene Campbell Boulevard and FM 1485 intersection.
