Fair Housing for Local Governments Webinar

Everyone deserves access to a decent, safe place to live. During this webinar, local governments, city and county staff, and community leaders will learn more about the history and importance of the federal and state fair housing acts and take away strategies for ensuring projects, policies, and ordinances in their communities meet or exceed the standards of the law. This includes not only an understanding of the fair housing act and tools for providing education to residents, developers, and homebuilders, but also case studies to review real community policies and specific planning ideas to eliminate barriers to housing.
Speakers include:
- Jeffrey Riddle, fair housing trainer with the Texas Workforce Commission Civil Rights Division
- Shad Bogany, winner of the 2024 National Association of Realtors Fair Housing Champion award, radio host, and president of the Fort Bend Housing Corp Board
- Representatives from Regional Councils of Governments from across the state, including H-GAC

Webinar Speakers
Jeffrey Riddle has over 23 years of experience in training and outreach, having served in the US Army and now working as a Training and Outreach Coordinator. With a history degree and a passion for knowledge, he's dedicated to helping people and organizations grow.
Jeffrey has trained hundreds of employers from various sectors during his time with the TWC. His focus on connecting with people and bridging gaps has made him a respected and effective speaker. He's passionate about helping organizations succeed by investing in their most valuable resource: their people. In addition to his employment training, Jeffrey provides knowledge and understanding of Fair Housing practices to housing providers and tenants.
Outside of work, Jeffrey enjoys spending time with his family. He's an outdoors enthusiast who loves exploring all the different regions of Texas, from hiking scenic landscapes to road tripping. His love for adventure keeps him energized and motivated. He also enjoys DIY projects and working on his cars, applying the same dedication to building things and maintaining his hobbies as he does to his work.

Shad Bogany has over 41 years of experience in real estate and is a respected leader at the local, state, and national levels. As an ERA® Real Estate franchise owner for 17 years, he was named Top All-Round Selling Broker in 2008 and Top Selling Broker in Texas in 2008 and 2009.
His brokerage was ranked among the Top 20 Brokerages in Houston by the Houston Business Journal in 2008 before merging with Better Homes and Gardens Real Estate Gary Greene, where he remains part of one of the top-selling teams. Shad has served as Chairman of the Houston Association of Realtors (2003) and Texas Realtors (2013) and held leadership roles with the National Association of Realtors, including Executive Liaison to MLS and Data (2021) and Policy and Issues Chair.
He was named Realtor of the Year by HAR in 2004, Texas Realtor of the Year in 2020, and a Fair Housing Champion by NAR in 2024. A longtime board member of the Houston Black Real Estate Association, he was honored as HBREA REALTIST of the Year in 2001 and 2017. He has hosted the Real Estate Corner Talk Show on WWWJ 1360 since 1990 and holds a degree in Real Estate from the University of North Texas.
