Quality Assurance
Quality-assured data are data that comply with the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) rules that govern surface water quality monitoring programs, including the methods by which water samples are collected and analyzed and data from those samples are assessed and maintained. The Multi Basin (formerly called Regional) Quality Assurance Project Plan (QAPP) has been developed between the H-GAC and the TCEQ to carry out the activities mandated by the Texas Clean Rivers Act and subsequent legislation. Seven local agencies comprehensively monitor water quality across the Houston metropolitan area under the H-GAC's Multi Basin QAPP:
- City of Houston Health Department
- City of Houston Drinking Water Operations
- San Jacinto River Authority
- Environmental Institute of Houston, at the University of Houston-Clear Lake
- Harris County Pollution Control Services
- Houston-Galveston Area Council
- Texas Research for Environmental Studies, at Sam Houston State University
H-GAC’s Multi Basin Quality Assurance Project Plan (QAPP) describes all local partner data collection activities. Data collected by these partners will be integrated into the TCEQ's statewide water quality database (Surface Water Quality Monitoring Information System-SWQMIS).
