The H-GAC Pedestrian-Bicyclist Program coordinates programs and projects that improve mobility and safety for pedestrians and bicyclists throughout the region.
Publications include planning studies and recommendations, interactive and print maps, funding resources, information on pedestrian and bicyclist demand, and commuting and safety tips.
Planning

The 2045 Active Transportation Plan is a long-range planning document that describes our region’s vision for enhancing pedestrian and bicycle infrastructure within the eight-county region.
Supporting resources include:
Pedestrian and Bicycle Special District Studies identify districts where there are significant opportunities to replace vehicle trips with pedestrian or bicycle trips and to improve pedestrian and bicycle safety. Studies include maps, supplements and appendices.
Published in 2007, the H-GAC 2035 Regional Bikeway Plan provides for investment, interagency coordination and best practices in developing facilities for bicyclists in the eight-county Houston-Galveston Transportation Management Area.
Funding

Advocacy Advance, with the help of the Texas Department of Transportation and H-GAC, developed a funding guidebook for bicycle and pedestrian projects in the Houston-Galveston region.
Advocacy Advance offers a funding overview, including resources, training and grants.
Counting

Published in 2013, the Pedestrian and Bicyclist Counts and Demand Estimation Study documents activities related to counting bicycles and pedestrians, modeling techniques for non-motorized demand, and developing a non-motorized counting plan for the HGAC region based on five topic areas:
